Measurement uncertainty
Expanded uncertainty around a laboratory result. A reference limit is a comparison line, not a toxicity threshold or an automatic conformity decision.
Laboratory inputs
Nonnegative. Decimal or scientific notation, for example 0.095 or 9.5e-2.
Positive, user-supplied reference. No MRL lookup or verification is performed.
Expanded uncertainty: already includes the coverage factor. Nonnegative; not standard uncertainty.
Positive if supplied. Never applied again; no confidence level is inferred from k alone.
Expanded interval
Mathematical interval · mg/kg
[0.076, 0.114]
- Expanded U_abs
- 0.019 mg/kg
- Reference L
- 0.1 mg/kg
Interval only — no conformity determination.
Display rounded to at most 12 significant digits; calculation and boundary comparisons use unrounded decimal values.
Scope & interpretation
U_abs = U for an absolute input; U_abs = x × U% / 100 for a relative input. The mathematical interval is [x − U_abs, x + U_abs]. This is not a confidence calculation, health-risk assessment, personal exposure estimate or laboratory approval.
A real conformity assessment requires the applicable regulatory or contractually agreed decision rule, analytical method and uncertainty, food matrix, residue definition and relevant accreditation/jurisdiction requirements. A selector here does not establish any of these.
MRL exceedance alone is not proof of health risk. Relative uncertainty at x = 0 gives zero mathematically; that does not establish zero laboratory uncertainty or absence of a residue.
